Well they can be friends and friends only. Dont look at your male friends as anything else but that. I have many male friends and they are just that friends some I have known for 20+ years and have never thought of them in any other way. Let them know that you are only their friend that should be enough.

why a girl and guy cant remain friends . well to start with if you are so close isn't it possible that at some time that close and comfortable attraction is going to become love. or be mistaken for love by outsiders and then the gossip might become a wedge between you .
And then there is the feelings of a partner that knows that there is a person of there sex out there that you can confide more comfortably than them .
But I have a friend of the opposite sex and we have been friends for 7 years and at times the line has become dangerously unclear .So it can work but you do need to be certain that this friend remains that , just a friend

the main reason is that out of their friendly relations, they start to desire more out of each-other. they become aroused sometimes and take "that" thing into "love category".
why cant a boy n a girl be friends? look, i have got many boys and we are best of buddies. to not let the relation take the turn towards love, both the persons have to be in control and limits.

I am friends with many men. No romantic thoughts. There may be flirting, but they know I am not meaning it. Men and women are designed to find each other attractive, but you don't have to fall head over heals, lol. You have allowed yourself to cross that line, and haven't made it specific as to how the friendship is to be.

they can be friends, however, love comes in between because of the physical attraction that you acquire after being around that person. the good thing is, some of the best relationships start out as friendships.
