Some galleries may cover your products, some may not. Before entrusting your products to the gallery you need to clarify what happens in the case of breakage in transit, breakage when in the gallery's care, commission on sales and what happens in case a customer returns an article, how long the gallery will keep your products and are you liable for collection of unsold items.

These things should all be agreed in writing.

The short answer is, speak to the gallery. If they are not sure, then be wary of dealing with them and take out your own insurance!

They should have Public Liability insurance which would cover anything on display even if it's not owned by them.

They might not however provide any insurance for damages to your glass art products and only provide cover should they smash and hurt someone.

You need to speak to a specialist insurance broker and explain fully your business set up. They will then be able to advise what insurances you require and what level of cover.

I would recommend The Broker Portals list of UK Commercial and Public Liability Insurance Companies and Brokers.

Not that this is a silly question but you know you do..Anyone in business needs Public Liability insurance especially as you will be involved in showing glass exhibits.

I would recommend you do have your own insurance if your work is over £500 as most gallery's wont cover cover the Artist's work.
As a Struggling Artist myself I find its a risk I have to take!
