Christians celebrate Christmas to honor the birth of Jesus (Christ Mass). Many atheists also celebrate Christmas. Although there was a Pagan holiday in the winter, Christians only borrowed some TRADITIONS from it. The point of the holiday Christmas was always to celebrate the birth of Christ. I'm not sure when the date was chosen, or why, but we do know now that Christ wasn't born on Christmas. It's basically a tradition handed down. The whole Santa thing is looked down on by many Christians. Everyone I know has always had a Christmas tree and gotten presents from Santa. Except my Jewish friend. We've always used it as a time to get the family together. This year my husband and I will focus more on the Advent Calendar and Advent Wreath. Passing down traditions is the best way to make sure kids remember the reason.

Christmas is the Jesus birthday. Catholics celebrate it because the king was born but over the years people have forgotten what christmas really is and have made up a whole different story.

its to celebrate the birth of christ-yet it isn't his birthday. you know how in the bible it talks about the shepherds and putting the sheep in from the pastures-welll in the winter they don't graze so his b-day is not in winter but it is just a celebration of his birth
