MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, more commonly referred to as MP3, is a popular digital audio encoding and lossy compression format, designed to greatly reduce the amount of data required to represent audio, yet still sound like a faithful reproduction of the original uncompressed audio to most listeners. One of my favorite devices for this is at the Pandora website. Pandora is part of the Music Genome Project.
The page has a little search bar where you type in a favorite artist, and it will play you one of their songs, then analyze it, and start playing things based on the pertinent characteristics of the song... at which point you can rate them. You can create up to 100 custom stations on your Pandora, and it is completely free.
