Spider-man has traditionally had the ability to lift ten tons. However in extreme circumstances this can be increased greatly, allowing him to lift large amount of rubble off of him or support a large amount of the weight of the Daily Bugle (which was about to collapse). Recently however he has had several upgrades. First of all he got more in connection with his Spider heritage in Avengers Disassembled which increased his strength, then got another strength boost in The Other and now also has a cybernetic suit courtesty of Iron Man. At the moment I would estimate his base strength at around the ability to lift 15 tons to a maximum of 20 altough no word has been given on the official figure.
To give you an example of how Spider-man compares to others Thing from the Fantastic Four can lift about 80 tons, Collosus of the X-men can lift 100 and the Hulk can lift a minimum of 100 and possibly unlimited amounts if he's angry enough. Realistically Spider-man is a medium-lightweight . He can easily overpower people with no or little super strength and can keep up with people stronger than him like Thing because of all his other varied abilities but he's not going to be able to take on a really pwoerful person. To give you an example of how outclassed he is comapred to the heavyweights, he once tangled with the Hulk and the Hulk couldn't hit him because of his speed and Spider-sense, but Spider-man kept on punching Hulk until his knuckles were bleeding from the effort and hadn't been able to hurt Hulk at all. For all his super-strength he couldn't even hurt him.

That depends on which Spiderman you're talking about. The original Marvel comic book hero had to mix a chemical formula to create his webbing. He could adjust its strength as needed, depending on which adversary he was facing, adding just the right amount of a specific chemical to make it fire retardant, or impervious to acids, etc. But that also meant he could run out of web fluid easily, which he did on occasion if you've seen the original Spiderman cartoons on TV.
The new Spiderman movie series sees the webhead with webbing that he generates himself as part of his mutation. He can't adjust anything to make it stronger, but it's always there: unless he's distressed, in which case it won't come out at all~ a bit of a drawback over a mechanically shot web.
So, if a naturally produced, unlimited supply web is included in the synopsis, then the the tip of the hat would have to go to the current movie series webslinger.
But physically, without web power consideration, I would think only the Hulk would have more sheer strength than your Friendly Neighbourhood Spiderman!

I looked at the oficial marvel website and IIRC, Spider Man's strength (press) was listed at the ten to twelve ton range. That's good and strong, but nowhere near the strength of Ben Grimm, for example, or Iron Man; to say nothing of heavy hitters like Thor or the Hulk.

Spider-man's feats of strength come from the first time his alter-ego, Peter Benjamin Parker, was bitten by a radioactive super spider, started to develop powers of an arachnid, and have the masculinity, sexiness, strength, and courage like no other in the world.
Spider-man's terms of strength come from within as well because his strong feelings for everyone he cares so much about has given him the ultimate strength of all; LOVE.

Spider man is said to be one of the strongest of all marvel characters, being able to lift several many tons at a time. One of his most impressive feats was when he was trapped under tons of rubble in a room filling with water. He had a cure for the radio active molecules in his Aunt May's body [she had received them during a blood transfusion that he had given her] that he had just recovered from doctor Octopus. He proceeded to lift up the debris and save his aunt in the nick of time.

With Hulk been 10 and the Wasp been 1 I'd put Spidey in at 6.
