You have no cause to worry if you've only been trying 2 months. Take folic acid supplements in advance to reduce the risk of open nural tube defects (ie spina bifoda), exercise, eat a healthy balanced diet and avoid alcohol while you are trying to concieve (basically make sure you are as healthy as you can be) Do you know why you are irregular? Are you over weight or underweight? If so address this before you try to concieve as it'll make for a better outcome for you & babe.

You can also try Take Charge of your Fertility (abbv to TCOYF). It'll help you recognise when you are ovulating & you can either get pregnant or not get pregnant, depending on how you want to 'take charge'. I've provided a like to the website for your info (no I don't work for them, I've just heard it highly recommended & a friend who'd tried for 2 yrs used it & got pregnant within the month!)

I had really irregular cycles - the month i conceived my son it was day 53 of my cycle when i ovulated! The only way that i knew i was ovulating by using ovulation tests (Lh tests). I also kept an eye out for fertile cervical mucus - it should appear eggwhite looking, be clear and stretch between 5-10cm at your fertile peak.

Its probably wise to ask your doc to request a blood test to check why your periods are irregular - mine was due to polycystic ovary syndrome.

Definately start taking the folic acid supplements now.

You could also try temperature charting (using a basal thermometer each morning BEFORE rising) and writing the temp down on a graph (or use free charting website below). It won't tell you if you are about to ovulate but at least you will know if you are ovulating and not having anovulator cycles. (you can still have a period and not be ovulating see below).

First of all how old are you?Are you married? Do you know what it is like to have a baby? First the deleivery is pure hell. There is a bowling ball that will be coming out your vaginal area. The baby has no concern for you and tears often occur between you vaginal opening and your annus,(which later have to be stitched up) and then for the first year you have the ball of funny. laughing crying shitty, vomiting burping, spitting creature attached to your side and travels where ever you go. That is if you decide to raise this little creature and not leave it with a parent of social services doesn't take it from you(G-d forbid). Then there is the custody thing if you are married and that doesn't work out becuse he is jealous or doesn't think he is getting enough of what he needs. They there is the in-laws. OMG they can be hurendious. So think carefully about this becasue you will get no sleep for about a years and as this creature grows you worry day and night, minute by minute about where it is and if it is ok. Get some books or tapes and read up about the not so glorious life of a mother. If you want a baby so you will have something to love and something that loves you back get a puppy .

Jackie, to get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.

After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex. Tell your husband to ejaculate on his inward thrust so that the sperms will shoot deep inside.

After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up with a pillow under your buttocks so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.

Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 3 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.
