Anytime you get a email from someone that you don't know you should delete them without looking at it. These emails can harbor Worms and viruses that can cause damage to your computer. I have heard about a Nigerian email, and yes it is a scam. They want you to send you bank account number and other personal information. Supposedly they are going to deposit money into your account. Bullsh*t. Just remember if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

I've never heard of a "South African Scam" unless you're referring to the Nigerian 419 scams out there: http://home.rica.net/alphae/419coal/ . I've gotten those emails and even, as a joke, got in touch with one of them before. They got a bit scared because I pretended to be a South American drug dealer.
