There were two UK hit versions in 1967 - by the 5th Dimension and the Johnny Mann singers. Contrary to what has already been said, it was not written in the 1940's . It was actually written in 1966 by Jimmy Webb who also wrote 'MacArthur Park', 'By the Time I Get to Phoenix', 'Galveston', 'Wichita Lineman', and loads of other songs around that time.

It's called Up Up & Away byy a group called The Fifth Dimension.

It's title is UP UP & AWAY and while it was written in the late 1940's, it wasn't popular until The Fifth Deminsion recorded it in the 60's.
