Microphone is an input device ( that is, you can talk to it )....in other words its a device, which converts Sound signals into Electrical signals.

Headphone is for reproducing the sound (so that's an output device). Headphone basically consists of a pair of small speakers, so as to convert electrical signals in to Sound signals.

I think these people don't understand you. There is no difference other than size and sensitivity. You can use headphones as a mic if you set them to input. They would be horrible at it but you can. Othere then that there are no other differences. They work exactly the same. There just both dedicated to there jobs.
