Will you reconsider your answers, if I tell you that this question comes from a 8 years old girl? Actually, her real question was: "why aren't people happy (like me) to stand under the rain?

I personally run when it rains because I hate getting my hair wet. Because I have mouse in it, and it dries all horrible.
However, in the summer on a really hot day, its great to just stand in the rain and cool off, and splash in the puddles, and I am a grandmother, so there you , after all we are not made of sugar, so we wont melt will we? we don't always run when it rains!

If you run you catch more raindrops on one (front) side and have a possibility to keep dry on the other side. Your front side will be wet through. So it seems stupid to run.
But there are two reasons to run. One: to find a hiding spot. You will be a shorter period in the rain and will keep you from a awful feeling of a wet-through shirt and possible cold. Two: everyone runs. Since we are herd-animals, we copy each others behaviour.
Children are more amazed by the sensation and less annoyed by the cold. Grown ups have the opposite

If they are like myself and hate rain with a passion they will be running to find shelter. They don't want to be stuck in the rain a second longer than they have to!!! I like water and I love a nice warm shower as much as the next person but I hate the cold, rain and the way it makes my clothes all damp and sticky.

I never did when i was younger. i loved the rain and would just stand in it and get soaked. Now, i run. I have curly hair and i straighten it. so when it rains, i try to get the hell out of it so my hair wont get curly and thus defeating the whole purpose of spending 1/2 hour straightening it.

in the hope of not getting as wet - but they are wrong to do so because they actually receive the same amount of rain on them owing to the rain hitting them faster as they run - so just walk - you get as wet - but at least you're not out of breath

I ask the same thing myself. I say they run when it rains because they have no brains... They are asking to get sick. I mean I run myself but when it rains I go on a treadmill indoors instead!
