If you already told the person to stay away from you he/she won't be surprised if you get a restraining order.

It is very easy to change your locks, and then this person won't have a key; and it will be breaking and entering. You need to know the size of the doorknob set you need to buy, and you can find that out by measuring from the center of the doorknob out to the edge of the door (or else temporarily take out the existing doorknob and look at what it says as far as how many inches it goes out). I think they're usually like 2 3/8" or 2 3/4". If you don't get the right size it just can't be used.).

Talk to the police, tell the your situation, and see if they can give you any advice on how to handle this.

If they have a key, there is nothing that you can do. You can not report it as a legit break it because there was NO forced entry. What you can and SHOULD do is to change your locks. If it happens again, you have grounds for filing a report and pressing charges. If nothing else, once you change the locks, file a restraining order against said person, then by law they are to stay away and if the restraining order is broken, a jail term is envoked upon the serving of the warrant.

Scary!!! Change your locks. File a police report. Tell neighbors, other tenants. Get a gun or mace. Call them, ask what they need or want and then tell them about your uncle who is the police sergent in your area. Good luck and be careful!

You really have to report him, the cops will get your key back and put a restraining order on him. If you do this you will be OK. If you don't things could get ugly.
