A healthy diet, regular exercise, as well as toning exercises will help. all three must be done.
Sit ups dont work the lower abdomen (tummy). Lay on your back with hands under your bottom (to protect your back) and do bicycle motions with legs (eg. bending and stretching each leg out alternatively). This is great for lower toning. Continue sit ups too.
Other exercise such as walking and swimming also tone tummy as well. Just not as much

Get into some cardio workouts. Try riding your bike for an hour every morning, or join a kickboxing class. Your tummy will be flat in no time.

Do not rely on sit ups alone. Do a complete range of exercises including walking, cycling, lying on the floor and cycling in the air etc. Also take care of your food. No more sweets, oil and carbohydrates. It will work for you.

Ask your aerobics teacher if you're doing it correctly. And go on a moderate diet: forget about sweets and fats and eat lots of veggies, fruits, lean meat, and drink lots of water. Good luck !!!!!
