He committed the crime of soliciting sex from minors while spearheading a committee against such acts. Is it all smoke and mirrors? Democrats are supposed to be Godless and without morals, but when it comes to hypocrisy, the republicans have them beat. It comes down to suppression of basic desires. The right is simply better at hiding them. Who knows what skeletons lie in the closet of George W. Bush and Karl(too light in the loafers) Rove. The democrats have plenty of sleeze; they just don't hide it as well.

The right wing spin on this cracks me up. This is as bad as it can be so they only thing they can come up with to say is he did the honorable thing by resigning unlike "those democrats". Even some of the other responders here are buying into that crap. There is nothing honorable about what Mark Foley did. If every member of congress did the "honorable thing" by resigning whenever they are charged with wrongdoing then the senate and house would be empty. I wonder what went on behind the scenes and how much pressure was exerted on Foley to resign so the republicans can try to salvage his seat.

Yes ex-Rep. Mark Foley should be the poster boy for the Republican Party. The republican leadership in the house, which Foley was part, are nothing but hypocrites, liars and thief's anyway.
Can you believe that this guy actually was a Chairman of the Committee that over sees the treatment of Kids and Foley and his Committee just based laws to protect kids. How can they live with their own faces?
The Republican leadership has been sitting on this for months and they hopefully will be prosecuted for this behavior.

Political party affiliation does not determine moral values. Basically, a conservative is one who believes in a small government and a laissez-faire economic system. Pedophilia has nothing to do with the economy, so therefore, "moral values" and "conservatism" have nothing to do with each other.
