the minnesota DNR (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/fall_colors/index.html?region=ne ) and several local media (http://www.timberjay.com/current.php?article=1204) have guides and updates about where to see the colors. the north shore is a beautiful drive, especially on the hills as the maples and birches take turns standing out against the pine backdrop. better hurry though... with the first strong cold northwest winds, the leaves will still be bright: you'll just have to look DOWN to see them. have fun!
