well see our body has 3 main layers of defence and the nose is on of the openings to the inner body.. heence it is protected by the mucos on the epithelial cells in the nose.. which also trap the microbes.. there are certain immune system cells called MALT(mucous associated lymphoid cells). so when these acy on any foreign particle like dust, and mainly microbes, these boogers are formed

The nose has hairs that catch particles and debris that would otherwise end up in our wind-pipes and maybe even Lungs!

Bogies are formed from this Debris build up!
There you have it!
Now stop Picking,Rolling and Flicking them darn Bogie's!!

It's the dust particles in the air stick to the hairs in our nose.

our nose hairs collect dust and other particles from the air we breath in so no dust will get to our lungs. to do this better, mucous is secreted so that the particles will actually stick to the hair. it's our first line of defense against dust and harmful elements in the air.

I don't know. I've often asked people what snot is made of and they always say mucus, which is like saying rock is made of stone.

WE HAVE HAIRS IN OUR NOSE AND THE HAIRS COLLECT DIRT AND WE ALREADY HAVE MUCUS IN THERE. NOT A WEIRD QUESTION.
