That's one you're going to have to decide for yourself. If you are conflicted in your views, I recommend finding a way to reconcile them. Science and religion don't have to contradict each other; there is plenty of room for interpretation in any religious text, including the bible. Flexible beliefs are much stronger than stubborn ones. If you are unwilling to accept the facts discovered by way of the scientific method, then you are going against mountains of empirical evidence. Our creator gave us reason and sense organs for a purpose, I doubt he intended for us to ignore what they inform us. This is the argument Galileo used hundreds of years ago when he was trying to convince the church that the planets revolve around the Sun. He was a devout Catholic, and just wanted the church to be more flexible in their interpretations of the bible. So to answer your question, I pose to you another question: who do you think was right; Galileo, or the Catholic church?

This is something you'll have to decide for yourself.
We can argue with each other until we are blue in our faces and there will be no answer because both sides are firmly entrenched. Because science deals with facts that can be experimentally reproduced, and making hypotheses and theories based on the careful examination of evidence. Religion is based on faith and belief. I don't think the two should overlap. Personally I believe that evolution is fact -- it just makes more sense and anyone who studies the natural history of the world, fossils and biology of living things will see how obvious it is that species adapt due to selective pressures from their environment. The growing evidence obtained from DNA sequence data is only more persuasive... our evolution is inscribed into our genes. I mean, we share about 50% of our genes with a BANANA!

Btw, the Adam/Eve/creation account in the Bible is now widely regarded as being simply an allegory for the struggle between good/evil. It is a story that had its roots in earlier mythology. Some fascinating reading here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_%26_Eve
