Mine just wont work all of a sudden, the rest of the pump is working fine, and is circulating the water throught the other outlets. But theres no suction from where the creepy crawly is attached too, so I suppose what I really mean is why is there no suction there?? is this a big expensive problem or just something simple?? any suggestions greatly appreciated

Kreepys are pretty simple. First off make sure that your filter pressure (Kreepy unplugged) is normal. If it's low , you may have a n obstruction in the suction line or the pump impellor is jammed with fine debris like pine needles or a leaf that got past the basket. If high, then a backwash. Clearing out the debris or the backwash will do the trick.
If your pressure is ok, check the hose for splits. If all sections of the hose are fine and tight then the issue is in the Kreepy. Look down the business end. You'll see the hammer (purpleish if bought in last 5 years, orange if older). Look around it for debris. If you see a twig or something, unclip the bottom of the kreepy (two tabs, one on each side of the suction hole towards the rear of the unit.) and remove the hammer and debris. If you see no debris and this is a purple coloured hammer, remove it. I'll bet a case of beer that it's become delaminated in the centre and there's pieces of it missing. Common problem with the new style hammer. Just go to your local pool shop and get a new one. Try to get them to give you one, rather than paying for it.
If this is an older Kreepy with the orange hammer, they are a solid piece and never fail. The issue with those older units can usually be traced to a faulty O ring on the tube assembly or the float arm (the thing that swivels) has worn a hole through the tubing on the unit. If this is the case, it's time to ditch the unit and buy new. It's not worth the money to refurbish it.
I don't know if you are using the regulator valve that comes with the units. It's the thing that fits on the skimmer end of the hose to regulate flow to the Kreepy. The only other thing I can think of is it's gummed up and allowing Kreepy to get too much suction and it's sticking to the pool bottom, rather than move.
In any event, it will be one of the above. Nothing else goes wrong with them.

I don't know if this is good for the creepy crawly, but it has worked for me. I had the same problem, I took it out of the pool and put the garden hose on full strength spray up the creepy crawly. There was a pile of rubbish (mangoes and leaves) that was causing a blockage, the hose pushed all of the rubbish out and it worked fine after that.

is the drain that it is attached to plugged? I know mine stops when the basket in the drain fills up with debris. Check that out first.
