Flip your laptop over, and on the bottom there should be three or four removeable panels (normally 3 on gateway laptops). One will have your memory sticks in them, take it out - place it in a antistatic bag (or if not available, wrap it heavilly in bubble wrap, and take it to your local computer shop. Let them pick out the ram for you in the ammount you need so you don't get the wrong type (show them the ram) and blow up your laptop's motherboard, then just put it back in exactly opposite to how you took it out.
