If you want a look back at the 80s, I'd highly recommend checking out Bloom County. You can also buy giant volumes of Peanuts strips, which are less syrupy than you might imagine and have interesting things to say about being a kid. And you really shouldn't be without a Far Side calendar to give you daily doses of absurdity.
