Is there a specific prompt for the personal statement? It's best to be honest with your background. Sometimes, to write a good personal statement you need to do a bit of soul searching. If you didn't do well in your studies, why? Did you have something else going on in your life that's important to you? Sports? Clubs? Family? What is important to you in your life? Have you changed within the last four years of high school? Have you grown as a person? You may really want to get in to college, but so do thousands of other students. Why should they take you? This is the only way the admissions people can get a feel for you as a human being. The most important thing you need to do is figure out how to utilize it with a good theme/subject to write about.

I hope this helps a little, but it's hard without a prompt. For my personal statements, the schools usually provided an optional topic you could address. Good luck!

Your personal statement should read: "If you want the personal touch, I can't be ##@$### bothered." This will impress those who make the decisions.
