RE:
What is a good inexpensive way to pick up acorns. Not with my hands!?
I understand blower/vacs don't do the job. Our leaf rake does'nt do a good job on the split shells the squirrels throw down. Anyone have a solution?

The only think I can thing of is raking them up with the leaves.
Still, I have to wonder, why would you want to clean them up right now? Acorns are perhaps one of the most important food sources for squirrels, blue jays, nuthatches, woodpeckers and other wildlife. If you are lucky enough to have purchased a home with a mature, acorn-producing oak tree on your property, be grateful. Sterile yards with no seed-producing trees and shrubs might look manicured but they are a dead zone for wildlife.
Those acorns you are wanting to rake up are perhaps the food for wildlife attempting to survive this winter. If you don't want them, at the very least, give them to your neighbors.
