Here’s some of what Mel said at a Texas event promoting an upcoming film: In describing its portrait of a civilization in decline, Gibson said, “The precursors to a civilization that’s going under are the same, time and time again,” drawing parallels between the Mayan civilization on the brink of collapse and America’s present situation. “What’s human sacrifice,” he asked, “if not sending guys off to Iraq for no reason?” (http://mensnewsdaily.com/2006/09/25/mel-gibsons-slamming-of-iraq-war-is-nothing-jew-i-mean-new/)

I believe this is the best description of the situation and an answer to everyone who says that "We are fighting for freedom in Iraq" or "We are helping the people of Iraq".. lol, I can't help but laugh when I hear these 2 excuses to be in Iraq!!

What do you think?

Quest, you need to learn that there is a world outside the borders of USA. Poor educated people like are the reason while still some Americans agree with the war in Iraq. You need to learn that Iraq is not linked to alqaeda by any meanings, even your idol Bush said that he didn't say they're linked. You also need to notice that the last time we attacked Iraq it was during the reign of Bush, and this time also a Bush... I pitty you anyway.

We are only in Iraq for the oil rights. period... Anybody who believes Bush, is naive or has the IQ of a snail. Bring in a Jesus "look-alike" and let Bush tell them
He is back and see how many of the Conservative masses will trample themselves to get close. THOSE are the ones who still think we are over there to "help" the people of Iraq.

Mel's a wacko, plain and simple. I don't like that we are stuck in a war that was made on a foundation of lies, but we can't just up and leave anytime soon. Bush Jr got us into this horrible mess but we have to hang out until the Iraqis can manage on their own. I've had it in for Mel since he did 'the Passion' and everything I've heard about him since has only confirmed my opinion of him. That could just be a part of a wider media conspiracy against him for his words and actions, but I'm not kooky enough to buy that just yet. Iraq's a bad situation. We can't leave until they can defend themselves, the longer we are there the more fanatically minded will continue to stream in to 'fight the crusaders', and the Bush administration apparently didn't even have a plan for after the invasion. If we leave now, Iraq collapses into civil war. Maybe that will change in the future. The people who run the Armed Services have more sense and better planning than W and they are starting to understand more clearly what a moronic dictator wanna be he is. I hope the next administration has the brains to listen to it's military aides before going in half-****** into the Middle East.

I agree that we are sending young men and women off to die for nothing. We are NOT safer because of Iraq - 16 different intelligence agencies have stated that since the war terrorism has spread. We are NOT helping the Iraqi people. There are bombings everyday and many still don't have electricity or running water.

I love it how Bush can call the Democrats the party of "cut and run" when his is the party of "blantant hypocrisy." He is slowly but surely reducing troops there but he's going to do it in such a way that he can "declare victory" and talk about how the Iraqis are now able to take care of themselves and that America has made it all possible. Mark my words.

War has been referred to as a God. In most wars religion has played a major role if not the only role to the reason behind a war. sold-iers are sold into the idea that their life is worth the cause. They are willing to sacrifice their life for a cause. It is the greatest thing a person can give is their life. After sacrificing their life there is nothing left of them to give. If their life is not a sacrifice then of what value would a person deem it? The problem with the idea of sacrificing your life as a human "human sacrifice" for a cause such as what is going on in Iraq is the question of value. To sacrifice human life is a grave and serious proposition to be weighed very carefully. Is the cause worth the sacrifice? None the less it is sacrifice of a human life. Ask any son's grieving mother.

I think that Mel Gibson was a good actor But he is also a big Hipocret in my oppinion. I believe that he make movies or directs movies to make money like anybody else that does that but, all the talk from him about the passion he has for what ever the movie is about is a bunch of mumbo jumbo smack that he wants you to BELIEVE SO HE CAN MAKE THE MOST FROM HIS MOVIE. We all seen the real Mel Gibson that night on the side of the road. Being pulled over for drinking and driving. My oppinion is Mel Gibson true colors came through. Good actor in movies but, piece of **** in real life.

I used to be a huge Mel Gibson fan (esp. Passon of the Christ) but since his drunken anti-semtic tirade...I don't give a ratsa*s what he thinks or says. Like others I believe that actors should stick to acting and leave the political statements to the professionals.....us!

Who gives a crap what Mel Gibson thinks! Who gives a crap what any actor thinks! They need to stay in the acting field and get out of the political one.
