Mine started around 3 or 4 months, I think.
They have to be old enough to not need nursing or a bottle in the night. Once that happens, it's a lot easier.
One month old is too young to be expecting a full night of sleep - sorry!

Every source I've read says it's not age, but weight that matters...they *can* start sleeping through the night (about 6 hours) when they are about 11 pounds. My baby is like a machine. Almost to the day that she hit 11 pounds (6 weeks), she went from sleeping 4 hours at a time (she'd go back to sleep after eating, though) to sleeping 7-9 hours a stretch at night (she wakes up after 7-9 hours, eats, and sleeps another 3-5 hours for 12 hours total). I will give you this advice; I feed her whenever she is hungry during the day (no schedule), and I think that's what gives her enough fuel to sleep so long at night without eating. Also, even though it seems contradictory, let her nap durign the day when she wants; overtired babies don't sleep well. You probably have a couple more months to go before she hits 11 pounds, so, don't sweat it.

My son will be 9 months on 10/6. He sleeps mostly through the night. We put him to bed between 8 - 8:30 PM. He'll wake up about 2 AM for a bottle. Then again at 6 AM to be fed and play. He takes another nap at 9 AM for a few hours, then about an hour at 3 PM.
All this to say, that each kid is differnt.
Congrats!

All babies are different. Try to stick to a routine and let your baby know the difference between night and day. For example, keep your babies room cool enough so your daughter is comfortable and try to keep it as dark as possible....this just may help her sleep longer. Try to keep naptime about the same time each day; however, at month old that's all your baby is probably doing...sleeping and eating. My preemie has slept through the night since 12 weeks. She's now 14 months and still sleeps 10 - 12 hours at night! Good Luck!

Every child is different. My son started sleeping through the night at a month and a half old. My daughter was 5 months old. I have friends who's children still do not sleep through the night and their kids are 4 and 5 years old.

well depending on the baby you should be looking at the longer nights now. of you are nursing it does take longer but have faith the do sleep. If nursing try make the baby wait a little long for his nightly feeding. give the baby a pacifier and have your spouce hold the baby and rub thier back. About 20 minutes will do. Yes the baby will still fuss, but when they feed they will eat more and so be satisfied longer. keep extending the period of time that you wait to feed by small intraments such as 10 min. it won't be long and they will sleep through the night

I was very lucky with my daughter, she started sleeping thru the night at 3 months and I haven't had a problem since. My son is a different story, he is a year old next week and still wakes up at around 4:00am. Not as often anymore though. All babies are different, Good luck and Congratulations.

Ours is 3 weeks and a day - born Sep. 8. He has slept through 4 nights. 6-7 hours! Yay! He's breastfed, and unpredictable. Keep her up all day! No naps if you can help it. Talk and play, take her to grammas, give her a bath. Ours gets fussy around 7 p.m. to midnight. We feed him when he's hungry but hold off the last 2-3 ounces until midnight or just before bed, Swaddle him up good, then fill him up good. Hold him until he gets sleepy and crashes then sneak him off to bed. Have his diaper changed and clean ahead of time. Hopefully she'll sleep all night, but it depends on his cues and light/noise, distractions, the neighbor's dogs barking, traffic. We found this velcro swaddling blanket on ebay that works like a charm. Makes him feel like he's still in the womb. I know what you're going through. I hope this helps!

You just never know with babies, don't get discouraged it may NOT take 4 or more months but it might. I do agree to keep prolonging the feeding as much as you can as long as she is gaining the proper amount of weight and doesn't have jaundice or anything else. My son slept through the night at 3 days old. I know, it probably makes you sick but he gained weight just fine and things were great. Good luck hopefully you will be able to get more sleep soon!
