I do. I have had insomnia for years and still find it really frustrating and with two small children and a full time job, exhausting as well!!

I rarely sleep more than a 3-5 hours a night. If I sleep at all. For years and years I've been stuck in a day world when I am a night owl. No sleep aid, activity or any other effort has allowed me to have a "good night's sleep". Which of course has caused me many problems with employers and many days where all of my effort is spent in staying awake not on the job.

To be honest I like being a nightowl. Second most of the jobs I have had would have seen better productivity if I wasn't in at the same time others were. Jobs that allowed me to make my own hours were jobs where I was by far the most productive. It also meant no more rushing around to make an appointment. I just made it late in the afternoon and worked a little later that night.

Anyway, good luck with the sleep. Know what it's like to see that clock knowing the time you have to get up draws ever nearer, the closer it gets the harder it is to sleep until finally when you know there is no way you can get up on time you feel sleepy.

I am a sufferer too, I always wake around 3/4 o'clock and cannot get back off to sleep I dare not get up as I will never drop back off to sleep, if I am lucky I can sometimes cat nap but not until around 6 and then by 7 when it is time to get up I am shattered.
Not sure if I could eat egg mayo sarnies though, oh well enjoy..

Have you tried any of the new meds for insomnia. I know most people hate to try meds but as a last resort it can be a good thing. Vitamin and health food stores are good. Meltonin is a natural supplement that may help. If not , Ambien is a good sleep medication. It takes about 20 minutes to work and has a four hour half life so that means it is out of your system in four hours. so therefore, you won't be groggy the next day. It's a good starter to getting you to sleep. people shy away from meds but not sleeping is as bad on your body as taking meds, if not worse.

I have a lot of trouble too! I'm 34 weeks pregnant. Tips: Put in a dvd of something you like but have seen before eg: Friends, Sex & The City, Firefly, anything that runs for hours that floats your boat. It clears your head of all of those thoughts you can't get rid of. Try a warm shower or bath just before getting into bed. Use a lavender soap/bubble bath. Have a glass of wine at dinner. Don't have too much to eat at dinner, just enough that you're not hungry but not too full. Don't have too much sugar or carbs. Go for a long walk (or run if you're not pregnant) during the day or late afternoon to really tire you out. Physically relax your body in bed, it's amazing how tense your body can get and you don't realise it. Good luck, sometimes there's nothing that helps, but I try a mix of these everyday. Think of all the others out there who feel the same...going over embarrassing moments in their heads when they just want to SLEEEEEP!

Yes me too. That's how I got started on Yahoo Answers. It's a great way to fill in those hours between 3 and 7. I'd much rather be asleep though.

Mine is exactly the opposite case. I can sleep the moment I hit the pillow. I have never taken a sedative in my whole.

Peace of mind is the key.
