I've filed for divorce and I'm wondering what to do with my ring. I really enjoy my ring but won't wear it anymore. How about his? Does he keep his?

Just an idea, but a good one, I think. When my husband and I separated, he told me that he was going to put his ring in a frame and hang it on his wall as a reminder never to be stupid again.

My first wedding ring I swapped for a meal!! yes thats true, long story
My second rings however are very valuable, we both kept our rings, I still wear my engagement ring on the engagement finger for the only reason its the only finger it fits but also its so valuable that I cant afford to have it stolen if I leave it in my house (its 2.2 carats) (YES ITS FOR SALE IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED)
Its entirely up to you what u do with them, some people keep them for their kids, others have them melted down
I suggest u keep them for a few years, how u feel about them might change over time, just as feelings do

Wait until your divorce is final, things change you nver know. If you absolutly positive then you can melt down the rings and have another piece of jewellery made, maybe earings or a neckace or another ring. This is if it is a nasty divorce, if it is an amicable one, then save them for your children if you have any by this marriage.

Mine ended up on the bottom of the San Diego Bay. I took the ferry from Seaport Village to Coronado and flung them over the side. It was a very exhilarating and freeing moment. even more so than finally getting the divorce papers.

When my husband gave me his ring back, I flung it across the room. Its just a piece of metal.

We got back together, and he wears it all the time, but I took mine off during my pregnancies, since it was digging in, and I meant to re-size it. While we were away at my sister-in-law's funeral, someone broke into our house and that was one of the things that went missing.

you each keep your own ring.........do whatever you want to with it, if you have children I would suggest saving it for them they might want it. My daughter loves mine so it is saved for her, not neccesarily for when she gets married, maybe when she has her first child.......something special.

The first time it was a much bigger ring......i had it made into another ring......then my boyfriend thought it was bad karma or something so i threw it in the river.....I have never missed that ring.

My sister likes the sledge hammer effect.

when I got a divorce I hocked it and spent the money on my kids. Not like they will ever get a penney from him and they deserved the money. I say hock it. It only serves as a reminder. Let your horrible past be someone elses beginnings.

I know a lot of ppl keep their rings, even if they don't wear them. Hell, I'll take it, give it here.

that is up to both of you to decide. if you have children you could save them and maybe give it to your son or daughter on their wedding day if it is something they would want to do. you could sell them, or you could take yours and have it melted down and made into something else, same goes for him. when i got my divorce she kept her rings(probably sold them to pay for her meth habit) and i kept mine, actually i gave mine to my mom who had it melted down with some other gold and made it into something else, so what ever floats your boat
