Gentlemen bow and ladies curtsy to the Queen. It is just a mark of respect and only happens when a person is presented to HM Queen. There are some people in UK who refuse to bow and who do not even sing the national anthem. It is after all, a free country.

Think bowing to somebody that just happens to be born with some money and happens to be given a title of Queen just because she is born into the right family is just wrong.
But apparently we bow to show respect!

You are not bowing to the person you are bowing to the Crown in a court of law all including the judge bows to the coat of arms
(Du et mon Droit)on the coat of arms there is the monachs crown if you dont bow your in contempt of court which can result in a heavy fine upto £2000 and or 6 months at her Majestys pleasure
