Individually, we can volunteer at the local homeless shelter and see what we can do to help as well as learn. Collectively, we can discuss what we have learned while volunteering, and begin speaking with the homeless to learn more about what led to their circumstances.
Any solution has to include participation of the population of concern.
That said, eradication will never happen as long as there is apathy, either from those who are not, or those who are.

No. Too many people are homeless out of choice. I work at an auto parts store near a house that is run by the State of Oregon. They send mental cases and newly released convicts there. Most stay a while then move on from town to town. It would be nice to see everyone who wants a home and job to find one. Just keep in mind that not everyone who is homeless is that way other then by choice.

Stop catering to illegal aliens and spend the money the government (We) supports them with... on building housing for those American people, in immediate need.
