Okay. I am black. The only time I was victimized was by a white boy trying to steal my car. Should I now think "why do white people cause crime?"
My son was sitting in his car, parked, when a white man who had been drinking ran into him. Luckily he only suffered minor injuries and whiplash. Should I now think, "why do white people drive drunk?"
The black neighborhood you live near may not be a good one and perhaps it is full of uneducated blacks who are also thugs. It doesn't mean we are all like that or that we all "cause crime."
Don't let your resentment of the black person who mugged you rule your mind and allow you to engage in the stupidity of racism. If you do you are no better than the person who mugged you.

Color plays no part in the commission of a crime except that if you live in a area with more whites, then the chances are greater that if a crime occurs in that area it will be committed by a white person. If you live in Mexico, then chances are the offender would be Mexican.

I've been a crime victim about eleven times and only twice was the perpetrator black. That means that whites have committed a disproportionate amount of crime in my case. Also all of the crimes except for one were committed by males.
If you look at the crime files on Perverted Justice and on Dateline, you also find mostly white males.

Same reasons that people of other skin colors do . You are not paying attention to your surroundings. use your eyes and ears and sense of smell to identify any possible threats to your safety. Can tell you grew up in a city and didn't listen to your parents that have already gone through the same things on how to do basic protection for your self. Time to grow up and stop living in a fantasy world.

Victimology. Someone who grows up being taught to believe their entire race is a victim, and that society owes them as an individual something will always feel entitled to have that which they did not personally own.
They also are never capable of acknowledging the victimization of others to an equal or greater degree than their own race's victimization.
If everyone whose race was at some time victimized by slavery was owed something by society, there would be no one left in society to pay that debt.
The white people in America are largely from the Scotts and Irish and they were being murdered and raped and forcibly deported from the clearings of Scotland by the English. Yes their were some wealthy whites that got wealthy on the natural resources of America, or came here wealthy, and were able to own slaves.
95% of the whites were victims of the same greed the black slaves were victims of. 95% of the people who fought and died to free the blacks were white. But the blacks think they are owed something from the whites. But they don't sue the nations that sold them into slavery and they don't blame the greed of the blacks who sold blacks.
As long as blacks leaders continue to promote the Us vs. Them mentality and create a disunity in the USA...well, the blacks will never achieve a full freedom to participate as equals. They need to learn to realize that they CAN achieve and do well, and that accepting hand outs or thefts from others will NEVER allow them to achieve.
Blacks have all the potential for greatness, but the philosophy of the perpetual victim continues to enslave them. When they individually say "I'll do it myself." and they become industrious and inventive and earn their successes rather than having it handed to them, they will rise from poverty and do well.
But as long as they think they can not earn success, they will have some who try to steal it.

The people who mugged you probably sensed you were a racist jerk. I am sure there are White people in your neighborhood who would be happy to mug you as well.
To Mare, sorry dear;I assume that people reading and posting will be savvy enough to understand factitious and ironic comments. It is amusing how you throw around worn out epithets...tell me do you have any original thoughts? Based on questions you have posted you probably need to spend less time trying to call Lindsay Lohan and more time in the library exercising your brain.
Let me spell it out for you. Of course it is wrong and criminal for anyone to mug anyone else. It is also wrong and deplorable to assume that a skin color is synonymous to being a criminal. In effect; this poster's comment is just as vile and hateful as what happened to him.

Why do white people wander around drunk with valuables on them in poor parts of town. If it was in a white area they might have beat you almost to death, peed over you and then lit you on fire. Try not to be stupid about this all your life. There are a lot of places that I would not want to go into, drunk or sober, day or night. Certainly not in a suit. And It has nothing to do with skin colour!

black people aren't the only race that commit crimes. maybe they just talk about it on the news more. who does all the school shootings. yeah, white people. let's not make this a racial issue and blame a certain race. all races have committed crimes. my family's been robbed by white people but i don't hold anything against them and blame them for anything.

My observation shows that many do-not think they are smart enough to do any better. The common stop light was invented by a colored or black man.The cotton gin and many other inventions were also created by ???
Those who go to collage often are shund by many others.and called uncle Toms. Why ,because they want to better themselves? I don't buy that. There are great cities found in Africa that would rival any Aztec or Egyption cities.
