what do i do if my dad tried to hit me?

he told me i dont know anything, treid to hit me, i doged, then he just told me to go to bed

That all depends on your age and your state's laws. Have you tried telling your mom? If that doesn't work, maybe talk to another family member who may be able to speak to dad since he is angry with you. I do know that in my state, it is not illegal to spank your children(although I do not hit my son).

Ok, first of all to all the ppl that think she should call social services. You don't know them or their family, don't advise something that really could ruin their life. When the above is all you have for details! DUH ( Assuming this was a one time incident, and he is normally a loving even tempered man ) Social services is for kids who are really being abused and neglected. I was there as a child and now I have 5 step children in social services due to their mother abusing them. I know the system inside out.
Depending on your age and the severity it may or may not be wise to call social services.
2nd don't do whatever it was that made him mad! You obviously pushed him further than you should have. Parents are only human too. Talk to him about the incident. See what his takes are on it and explain how you felt. Communication is KEY in parent/adolescent relationships. Half of why things go wrong like this is not communicating or not doing it respectfully. SO have a little sit down with him and discuss it like a mature young adult. I am sure he will have more respect for you if you do that rather that lash out in some other irrational way. You'll be in my prayers!

being a parent or a young lady is not easy. especially when the girls hormones are changing... dads do not always understand this. i am sure that if your dad really wanted to hit you he would of. this can be the same with a mom and her young son. there is no perfect method, parent or child. But if your parent beats you then i would say something to my counselor or a relative that you trust absolutely and that is mature enough to help your situation and not worsen it... good luck and i hope you never get hit by your parents... and try not to give them a reason to do it,k?

If this is the first tiime you've seen violent behavior in your father.... wait a couple of days and talk to him. He may be more confused about it then you are.

Okay.. basically the way you put it is. He walked up to you and just randomly said that you don't know anything. Tried to hit you and you dodged the hit and he let it go and said go to bed. Now... my question to you is what did you say to provoke him to say anything to you? Your acting like you didn't do anything.

According to the law he can spank you but he can't hit you other then that. If your scared hes going to hurt you you should talk to a councilor at school or a aunt or uncle.

Stop doing whatever he told you not to do and stop back-talking. Try listening and he won't feel he has to take such drastic measures to get you to listen.

If this is not an isolated incident, though, just call the cops. If it was just once, stop doing whatever you were doing to piss him off.
