What reasons do you think make Halloween the best holiday? And don't give me any of that "XX is the best holiday, not Halloween" crap. The only reason people like Xmas better is because there are more presents! ^.^

The Halloween parties. There's so much more to do! Hay-rides, haunted fun houses, costume parties/contests, candy, going to orchards, scary TV, story-telling on scary topics, and Autumn and the harvest. This is my favorite time of year.

Halloween became traditionally a ceremony started as "Day of the lifeless," the only nighttime a 300 and sixty 5 days whilst the spirits of the lifeless would desire to return to the earth and stroll among the residing. The term All Hallow's Eve became into Halloween because of the fact the cases replaced. This "holiday" does have historic importance!

I love Halloween. It is my opportunity to dress up and pretend to be something I am not. I get to wear Halloween related clothes all month. What other holiday or time of year can a 50 year old woman dress in 'bat' pants and wear a shirt that says 'bat attitude'? I have candy corn jewelry, socks, scarves and t-shirts. Tons of witch socks, shirts, etc. What a great HOLIDAY.....and you can have fun from October 1st to the 31st! Woo hoo.

Did I mention all the candy at the stores. Yum.

Halloween is the one day of the year you can act like an idiot and no one knows its you because of the mask! I LOVE HALLOWEEN! This year my husband is going to dress up like a puppetmaster and our daughter is going to be his puppet (with blood dripping from her face). She's gonna wear a party dress and frilly socks and little white shoes, her hair in pig tails with her face painted white. Then I'm gonna put some eyeliner on her and mascara, lipstick, and blush and draw a line down from the corners of her mouth so she looks like a creepy marionnette! Scary huh? Last year our son was Freddy Krueger. I did an awesome latex job. We got LOTS of complements. Our older daughter always wants to be a witch, which KILLS my husband. He likes originality. My littlest daughter (the puppet this year) for her first Halloween was a bag of jelly beans! It was AWESOME!

It's a day to change into something you're not, to walk around exploring what you'd possibly like to be, or not, if you're acting like a zombie. That's part of it. It's also Wiccan New Year. The variety of costumes created show that inner quality we all have. Yeah, the treats are pretty great as well. Time to be a family, especially if you have a tradition that you follow. Arrooooo!

Halloween or, Samhain: begins the Wheel of the Year. With the Goddess caring new life within her, the God descends to the underworld. This is the time to prepare the family for winter, harvest, and a time for assessment. ......in my religion this is a time to rejoice how well the year was, and to bring a close to the year, and to prepare for the coming year, it is a time of transaction ......this is a Wicca " holiday" to put it simple so you can understand

It isn't the best holiday... The best holiday would be Christmas, second best is Halloween... But it would have to be candy, costumes, haunted houses, and halloween parties

Its the 1 day a year where kids get to be whatever they want to be, and are still young and innocent enough to believe that they CAN be what they want when they grow up. They get to "play" in the dark, utilize their imagination, see their friends wear their fantasies on their sleeve, feast on candy and get scared shitless! And its great! - when we grow up, despite what life has done to us that little kid still resides in us and we are that much closer to our "inner child", even if its just; for-1-day-a-year.
