It can be .anything just not a".something.somethingelse". If there aren't any what's the cheapest way to get a dot com website that your know of?

.anything or .whatever etc etc are issued by ICANN and as such you can't "create your own .anything"... the cheapest (at the most reliable service) in my opinion (and what i use) is http://www.godaddy.com .. good luck.

There are several 'providers' via whom you can lease a domain name. Personally, I use godaddy, who also allows me to use their servers to host my site for an extra fee.

The prices at godaddy are pretty good, though there might be better deals out there. Try a few google searches to compare offers.

You can buy a several different domain names such as .com, .us, .net, .org, etc for less than $10 a year.
