I'd like to describe a feeling of feeling freer. I have been envisioning a situation where a cylindrical object is encircled by something that closes down on it so it can't move. However, if the closure is released a little, the object is free to move or twist. For example, if you put your hands around a pipe very tightly, another person would not be able to twist the pipe, but if you loosen your grip, the pipe could move and twist within your hands.
Can you think of any common real-life situation that works like this (a cylindrical object stopped in movement or twist by something that closes around it)?
