*Knife or Knifes are on the right side of the plate,
*Tablespoon is placed next to the knife,

*Napkin is folded in half and placed next to the fork with the crease farthest away from the fork.
*Glass is placed directly above the knife.
*Second Glass placed next to first.
If other silverware is needed for Salad, Soup, Dessert, Etc;
*Place the spoons next to the spoons, and
*Forks next to the forks.
*Silverware is placed in order of what is to be eaten, beginning furthest away from the dinner plate and working your way towards the dinner plate.
*A salad fork would be placed next to the dinner fork, and would be furthest from the dinner plate.
*A soupspoon would be placed next to the tablespoon, and would be furthest from the dinner plate.
*A dessert fork would be placed next to the dinner plate before the dinner fork because you would use the dessert fork last.

knives and forks etc as above. For a dinner party it is nice to get the cutlery and glasses all symetrical with each other, like a good restaurant would. put something in the centre of the table, even if you will move it later to put food dishes there. Something bright, a small vase of flowers, a brass or silver candlestick. We have a ceiling spotlight which I point at the middle of the table.
bon appetit

First you set the table command.
Then you set up the row ...
Then you decide the number of columns, say ... three.
|
|
Then you have to close the row.....
|
and then close the table...
so ... a three column three row table would lay out like this...
Hope that helps!
