=It happened before? The why of it is that you are sad and crying. A cold facecloth on your forehead and eyes works just as good as a tea bag which holds in the cold. Chances are you are upset, depressed and crying over a guy. Trust me when I say that any man that makes you feel sad and cry is not worth it. So please stop it right now and get on with your life..

When you cry, the blood capillaries in your eye lids are quickly filled with lots of blood, causing inflammation due to the increased blood flow pressure. So your eye lids "puff up"/swell.
If your eyes are puffy in the morning, go straight for a cube of ice. Wrap it in a paper towel and hold it over each eyelid for a few minutes. The cold will reduce the swelling.
((To the ones that thinks it's about a guy, although crying over a guy CAN be common but she may have lost a loved one, lost a close friend, lost a pet ( I know I cried so much when I lost my kitten) Maybe she cried cause she has problems at home and is scared about what will happen. Maybe she was assaulted or raped, There's lots of possibilities why she cried a couple nights ago and doesn't want to make it any clearer that it's not a guy reason as she voluntarily stated and that's her business. sheesh.))
I'm sorry to hear that you cried so much. I hope you feel better REALLY soon! Good luck with everything!

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I can sympathize with your situation. I actually cried myself to sleep last night as well, and am now dealing with puffy, swelling eyelids. As soon as I woke up, I put a cold pack on my eyes for as long as I could stand it. And every time I get a break in my morning routine (like now), I've been icing my eyes to get the swelling down. In the 50 minutes I e been awake, the swelling has gone down tremendously. 90% in my right eye, and 75% in my left eye. I hope this helps.

Quite likely you were stressed when you went to sleep, thus you did not actually sleep very well. Perhaps if this is occurring regularly you should seek the advice of a medical professional.

when i get into fights with my loved ones and i cry to sleep this happens to me too. I dontknow why it happens. my upper eye lids are huge with a purple tint to them too! its so gross. Putting ice on then for a littkle bit at a time helps the swelling go down alot though. (liek if you were injured and you had swelling and u were directed to ice it). i would liek to know how/why it happens though =)
good luck!

Here's the thing; tears moisturize the eyes, but the face really takes a toll.... Crying will do that sort o' thing, especially if you cry yourself to sleep. But the question lies, why do you cry yourself to sleep? He's not worth it...

Because you cried a lot. Your tear ducts are overworked. I cried so much once, when I woke up, it looked like you could pop my eyelids with a pin.
