If you mean "Purlie," it's got music by Gary Geld, lyrics by Peter Udell, a and book by Ossie Davis, Udell, and Philip Rose, based on Davis's play "Purlie Victorious." Primarily a "singing" musical, but there are a couple of production numbers.

Here's a plot description from IMDb: "In the early days of the civil rights movement, a Southern plantation owner holds his sharecroppers in virtual slavery. Purlie comes home as a preacher who will shake things up and bring freedom to his people."
