I think people think that way because of the music associated with Emo's. The music is usually represented by unhappy or melancholy lyrics and such thus them thinking you're unhappy, etc. Just another stereotype. Don't let it get under your skin.

i know i was emo and didn't cut myself my ex asked me if i cut myself because hes convinced i'm emo
i probaly look the part but i'm not
now that i think bout it when i was emo i did get mad and put my hand through a window does that count as cutting myself
it did cut my wrist alot

I don't think that. That's ver stereotypical. I have some friends who are emo and they are very cool. One of them hates anything that's sharp! I think people who think that are shallow.
