They are just looking for any and every reason to hate him .... name one president in our lifetime that has faced as many really tough issues that President Bush has faced.
- Turning the economy around from the recession that Clinton left it in to an extremely strong economy.
- record breaking new home starts.
- Fighting the war on Terrorism ... after Clinton ignored the first 4 attacks on the US.
- The worst attack on our country in its history
- The worst national disaster in our country history (Katrina)
- The worst hurricane season in Florida in decades
- The worst Tsunami on Earth in history.
These have not been easy times and I challenge the nay-sayers to even attempt to handle the many, many things that George Bush has faced.
Thank you President Bush for keeping our country safe !
I'm glad you asked ... and Thanks AlGore for inventing the internet so that we may have this exchange.

Not everybody hates him, I still rather like him, although I'm not sure I would vote for him again if given the option. (BTW, between Bush and Kerry, Bush is still better). My opinion of him when down significantly after the aftermath of Katrina. I don't think he had the right man in charge of FEMA to do the job. The flooding of New Orleans certainly was not his fault (if anything that was complacency of quite a number of people in Louisiana and unrelated to the Bush administration). But I'm certain the evacuation could have been handled better.
The Iraq war doesn't help matters. Even if we were right in principle to invade Iraq, for any good thing that occurs, there's quite a number of bombing incidents, etc. And of course In any scenario, bad news nearly always gets priority over good news, because bad news is nearly always sensational.... good news is not. Rebuilding Iraqi infrastructure? Boring.
It really is hard to see if we're doing any good. The situation is complex. But would we really be better off, or even the world be better off, with Sadam still in power?
I tend to think that even if we did not attack Iraq, we'd still be fighting, somewhere, and there would still be as many American causalities (if not more from terrorist plots). Bush may just be an unlucky man in a Catch 22 scenario. Fight or no fight, because some Islamic militants decided to wage war on us, any president would probably have to bear the burden or some form of war. When there's such an ideological discrepancy between them and the West, I can't see diplomacy working. The question then becomes, have we implemented the right strategy?
Of course, the right and left of our country are living in two conceptual universes, where the laws of reason and logic do not agree. The left has always hated Bush. Their hate is pathological and frightening. Just read a few of these posts! The problem Bush has today is his enthusiastic support from the right has dwindled.
I bet it will take a good 20 years (or hell 100) to see if what we do today in Iraq really does help. Right now, though, there are numerous questions about it that lead to doubt. And public doubt hurts Bush.

well, obviously, "everyone" doesn't "hate" him.
but i can tell you why i don't trust him.
he's convinced that his policies are perfect for America, and does not seem sway able in the face of the fact that they are not.
he also attacks anyone that disagree with him, calling them "unpatriotic"
i have a problem with the fact that he tends to create issues that aren't that important in the general well being of the world, to divert attention from the things he's messing up.
It also makes me nervous that he even had us go to war with Iraq, since that country, while it did have a cruel man leading it, had NOTHING to do with the happenings of 9/11. It's kinda like bombing Florida because Texas bombed you... same "basic" area, but obviously, different places.
something that should bother everyone is that overusing the 9/11 tragedy, we have lost numerous rights...and stand to lose many, many more!
i truly believe that he has pushed a once stable country to the very brink of a "Romanesque" total collapse. Think nero, playing his fiddle, as Rome burns to the ground, if you will.
there's a good chance, that if we DON'T descend into to anarchy before this whole thing is done, and we don't piss of the other countries with nukes(and subsequently get "bombed back to the stone age" by them) that history will show him to be in the same league with stalin, hitler, and even men like saddam hussein.
and .....there's the little matter of the deficit... we had a SURPLUS before bush's presidency, and now we have an INSANE deficit....i thought "conservative" meant just that...if your conservaitive, aren't you supposed to be frugal??? where did the money go??
here's a little something everyone should see, at least once.

Bush won re-election because of gay people. I really believe that. The gays picked the WRONG friggin year to start that fight and we all pay for it now. Minorities generally vote democrat, but minorities are generally homophobic also. This is what won Bush his 51%. I have had lots of black people tell me they voted for Bush because of gay marriage. That really makes me sick. Americans hate Bush because he's screwing up our country on so many levels. He's ruined our budget surplus, gained us a bunch more new enemies that we didn't have before, our gas prices are much higher (could be because of Iraq #2) and we are no safer than we were on 9/11. I hope one day you wake up to see reality.

---I did not vote for him in 2004
---I hardly trust his intentions. My intuition guides me.
---He caters to the rich, to religious fanatics, to un-necessary ideals that make American values look hypocritical.
---He needs to read the Constitution.
---He keeps plugging democracy for Iraq. Freedom, freedom, freedom is all he says in public, but check out what he said lately:
"You know, I hear people say, well, civil war this, civil war that. The Iraqi people decided against civil war when they went to the ballot box"- Bush
---Not to mention, the videos that have circulated the internet where he flips off the camera, speaks foolishly under the camera, etc.
---We have seen and heard Iraq only gets worse with death tolls reaching the same as the war in Vietnam in the 60s. I really do sympathize with our soldiers, I sent a unit a carepackage so I am speaking from the heart.
---I am positively sure that if I wasn't as tired tonight I can add alot more...
---Its too bad I'm speaking wrongs against our president, and yes he does have some strengths, but I cannot make sense of how he was elected twice??!! Can somebody explain this to me Lucy!!
Apathy is dead! Knowledge is power!
Do what is right and things will be right...vote to change Congress this November.

Hate is a strong word. I think disapponted is more like it. He sold people on being a compassionate conservative and he has been more along the lines of a hard-core conservative. Except for the ideals of small government and fiscal responsibiblity, that is. So he has distanced himself from the moderates who once supported him and a lot of Republicans who feel like he has been fiscally irresponcible. There are two reasons he was re-elected: Kerry and the Dems were their own worst enemies and, more importantly, the country as a whole did not want to change leaders in the middle of a war. I think a lot of people felt it would be seen by those who hate the US as a sign of weekness. That and he's a goofball.

You refer to him as Our president. To bad he doesn't see himself that way. He acts like he is the president of just the 50 million who voted for him.

Hate is a strong word.
He is just a bango playing redneck. No matter how bad things get he just plays the bango. You can't play a sad song on the bango try some time. It is embarrassing to call him and the republicans "our" band. The music they play is quite bad.
The torture song is the worst, but somehow the republicans keep playing the bango.

His father was a moron. George Jr. is a DANGEROUS moron. I'm quite sure he will be the last president of the United States because he will manage to get us nuked out of existence. Find one other country in the world that truly likes the U.S. anymore.
