My wife and I have a 1 month old son, and both of us just had strep. I was so concerned that he would catch it I took him to the pediatrician like 5 times. I was told that babies wont get strep(which is going around right now) until they are at least 24 months old. In regards to the medicine, you can safely take halls cough drops, and claritin. If you have any questions regarding the safety of any medicine, any pharmacy would be glad to help. Good luck!

Yes you can still take medicine and he shouldn't get sick. If you're taking medicine there's a good chance he'll get some through the breast milk so if he is sick you'll be helping him.

Call your doctor making sure he is aware that you are breast feeding, then call the pediatrician if you are still worried. Like everyone else said, whatever you ingest, so does the baby.
Try drinking some warm tea with honey and lemon.

What I learned during breastfeeding is that before you get sick, your body starts making antibodies to fight the illness. They are passed on through the breastmilk. So your baby will benefit from breastfeeding at this time if you feel up to it.

I had the flu and was sooo worried about my baby catching it. I even took him to the doc several times preventatively. Baby never got it and doc told me what I told you above...

Your baby will get the antibodies that your body is making to fight off your illness. Your baby will probably not get sick and you can take cough drops, and the stuff you spray directly in your throat, but I wouldnt do anything else.

I assume your doctor will not prescribe you any medicine that would harm the breastfeeding infant. Over-the-counter medicines should be okay.
