Ok...not trying to be rude or anything....but what the heck are the point of hummers? They take up so much space....waste gas...and should only really be used in the outback. They are quite pointless unless a person plans to run into any buffalo on their way to the grocery store.

People who own hummers just want to show and tell.
Who knows.....
But yeah, I agree, they are wasteful gas gozzlers and I hate when one parks next me.
It makes me feel like I'm in Terminator movie or something....

They are awesome off road vehicles it is very difficult to get a hummer stuck in the mud snow or anything...They are great for the military. As far as the civilian models are concerned they are over priced Chevy Suburbans (H-2) and Chevy Trailblazer (H-3). You are right they are pointless for the civilian population. It is the Penis envy thing, I'm better than you because I have a gas guzzling, 1 1/2 ton four seat-er SUV that goes anywhere except for parking lots and garages, Alley's, etc!

it has to do with history most of all

before the hummers there were the willys (smaller but all terrain) and most people are into the idea that hummers are "ego-booster" cuz of the fact that they are military vehicles that are open for the public to obtain.

it also has to do with the childhood mentality of when u grow up surrounded by the ideas of wars. so u need something tough against everyone else... best example Hummers

i prefer the willys over the hummers they r 2 big.

for military purposes. The old joke is that you can take apart and put back together a hummer with a wrench. Jeeps were initally used but the military found the Jeep was too high and narrow thus losing alot of traction. Hummers are able to go to rugged terrain due to how low to the ground they are.

Domestically their purpose is to rob the people who dont know any better of their money.

You are right but the Army had to do something with them and the people who buy them to resell make millions. Surplus Jeeps once sold for Fifty dollars each, i don't know what they are paying for hummers, but I will bet the profits are enormous, That is the point and ego trippers love them, makes them feel big.

Oh gosh.

You miss the point entirely.

The point is that, "If you've got it, flaunt it."

Very similar to wearing gold jewelry and diamond
rings everywhere. The purpose of all that jewelry
is "what"? There is no purpose. Those people are
wearing it because they "can".

They're for people with big egos thinking they need to be the biggest, baddest vehicle on the road, and possibly off-road- something they probably will never do!

They are there to keep the big oil companies and their associated politicians in business. You know it's important to ensure that those multi billionaires stay rich.

It's all EGO.

My truck is bigger than your truck.

"Small mind complex" - when they don't take it to the dirt road, and only drive in the city.

they like to sit up High, in the seat, makes them feel more in control.

I dont like them, gas guzzlers.
