He ran for Governor in the State of New York in 1993 under the Libertarian ticket, but soon backed out, since the party didn't feel that he shared their same ideology and his background as a Shock Jock could hurt the party's reputation. Another reason he dropped out of the Gubernatorial race, was when he learned that he would be required to disclose any and everything about his finances, both personally and professionally.
He never ran for President.
