It should work just fine for a game like battlefield 1942, since that is a fairly old game, at least by computing standards. You said PCI, but I assume you meant PCI Express since this card is not available for plain PCI. If I am correct in assuming you have PCI Express, I would personally recommend this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131007
A better card that is still within the price range you are looking at.

there is a lot left for interpretation here, but I'm betting you can do better.
first, is your processor AMD or Intel. historically, I have seen the nVidia cards perform best with an Intel chip, while ATI seems to function slightly better with the AMD.
next, is PCI your only choice? in descending order, here is what I suggest for video card placement in your system:
1. PCI-X - drawback is you will probably need the PCI 6-pin power drop from your power supply
2. AGP - in the absence or inability to use PCI-X, AGP is the standard video slot
3. PCI - regardless of which card you go with, the older and slower PCI bus is always the worst of these three.
