what was the guitar that micheal j fox used to jonny b goode in back to the future? and will a B.C. Rich warlock or a ESP LTD AX-50 Electric Guitar make the same sound

From what I remember it was a Gibson ES-335 which is a semi-hollowbody guitar. The sound from the 50's was due to speaker distortion, in fact some guitarist would purposely cut their speakers to get that sound. You should be able to approximate this with clean amp and on your effects box just a hint of distiortion. Use heavier strings will help, maybe 12's.
