Absolutely! Antibiotics don't work on viral infections, so you can get a cold or any other viral infection while on antibiotics.
And antibiotics are only specific to certain organisms, so what works for a strep throat, may not work for chlamydia. And to complicate the picture, if the infection is fungal, the usual antibiotics don't work, you need an anti fungal agent.
So yes, you can get sick while on antibiotics. Your doctor has prescribed a specific antibiotic for a specific infection. It may not work on other sourses of infection. If you aren't getting better or think you have a different infection, see your doctor. There's a plethora of antibiotic/anti infective agents out there, and there is certainly one that will help you.
Good luck.

Yes, you could catch a virus. Antibiotics don't work on viruses. And as others have said, taking antibiotics can cause yeast to multiply, giving you a yeast infection, and/or beneficial bacteria in the gut to die, giving you the runs. One time I did start feeling depressed while on antibiotics. It's best to only take antibiotics if it's really necessary--question your doctor about this before taking the Rx. When you do take antibiotics, make sure you take the full course.

yes. specific antibiotics treat specific ailments, and do nothing for other problems. Antibiotics do not treat viruses, which is a cold, but will treat the infection a cold may cause. Also if you have recently started antibiotics and are now getting sick you should call your Dr. or pharmacist and make sure you are not having an allergic reaction to the drug.

Antibiotics can kill "good" bacteria as well as harmful bacteria.
Also, antibiotics do NOT kill viruses. Viruses aren't living organisms like bacteria -- they are protein clusters that sustain their existence by latching onto healthy cells and multiplying. When you have a virus you can treat the symptoms and stay away from others to avoid spreading it, but please don't ask your doctor for antibiotics. The more antibiotics you take over time, the more resistant harmful bacteria become. It is a really serious problem in the healthcare field.

Surprisingly, yes. I say this because I'm on some major antibiotics right now and have developed a terrible yeast infection. It is due to the antibiotics...it's a common side effect basically, but it still doesn't make it right.

Sure you can. It won't prevent any sexual diseases .. if that is what you are thinking .. you always need to use protection. Antibiotics are usually given for a specific ailment. It doesn't cover everything at all . Good Luck! :)
