I never watch scary movies any more. I get so scared and it effects me for at least a week after I watch the movie.

Honestly, I've never been so scared to be kept up at night. Think of it like this.
It's a movie, made by actors. The chances of the same thing happening to you as in white noise are slim to none. If the thing did happen, then there's a good reason behind it.
Don't be scared, seriously. Scary movies are a barrage of violence on your emotions. They're not scarey anymore, even if they are real.
Just remember, it's a movie. Actors, directors, and people with sick, twisted minds. The ones that are based on a true story were probably streched a bit out of proportion for box office purposes.

I love scary movies but I never watch them alone because my imagination gets away with me. The best is to watch a scary movie with a friend and talk about it afterward... the acting, the effects, set design, plot holes, soundtrack, etc. Once we've picked it apart as the work of film that it is, I am no longer scared.

I kinda forgot to get scared at Horror when I was about 25. I suddenly found myself walking through the countryside at night without thinking about werewolves.
Horror movies today have no impact on me.
My kind of Horror would be a book like Misery by Stephen King. Because it could happen to you, and he shows how horribly real it could be. Humour in Horror just makes it more poignant.
Many horror stories are based on real events, most are highly dramatised versions.
Halloween, Poltergeist etc.etc. are all based on criminal cases, but after the Hollywood treatment you will never recognise which ones because more than one gets used then they add horror.
White Noise is based on psychics stupid beliefs, combined with Eastern ghost stories. It is only true to REALLY stupid people who give all there money to the psychic friends network.

I love scary movies, but I'm not deprived of my sleep after every movie. It depends on how my imagination is running. I'm more scared of serial killers, rapists, and home invaders rather than scary clowns, ghosts, and little girls with hair in front of their face. Although, if I did see any of the last three I mentioned I would definately never sleep again!

I can't do scary movies, stories, books, etc. Even 'Scary Movie' kept me up at night (although it did make me laugh too). Silence of the Lambs scared the !#@$ out of me. I tried not to watch it, but it so compelling, I couldn't turn it off.
