From the fans themselves. I'm sick of hearing about Lidstrom. He's amazing but I would like to hear about some other guys.

You can say Lidstrom if you want . I was merely saying he was overrated.

Overated has got to be lidstrom I know u said not to say him but i think he is. i think it was tsn who said he is the best player in the NHL. That is nuts. The most underated has got to be John M. Liles. He is awsome and no one gives him credit. I hope he has a good season with the avs this year and maybe he'll get some recognition

Who dropped these people saying Lidstrom is overrated down some stairs when they were young? Lidstrom is one of, if not the greatest defense men playing the game. Look at last year, fifth in points, first in assists and points and third in time on ice. Not to mention the 4 norris trophies in the past 5 seasons, and a finalist in seven of the past eight seasons. He is the smartest best positioned player in the game.

Overrated- definitely Rob Blake. Dude was good in 2000, but its 2006 now. People trashing Lidstrom are the same who would probably say Tiger Woods is overrated. When you are the best, you are the best. He is in a league of his own and if you watch enough hockey, you know that. As far as underrated, I will go with a local Bluejacket player, Duvie Westcott.

Lidstrom is far from being overrated, he has been the most consistent defender in the league since he joined.
Derian Hatcher on the other hand, hasn't done nothing and is slow and with the new rules will make it harder for him to play today's game.
Rob Blake is not overrated, he is getting up their in age but he is still taking care of his end and he still gets the points.

Overrated I would say Rob Blake. I don't know how people can say Lidstrom is overrated, his record speaks for itself.
Most underrated would be Scott Neidemeyer. He doesn't get half the recognition he should be receiving. The man is excellent.

TOMAS KABERLE- TML
This guy does not get the respect he deserves. I don't think there is a better puck handler, passer, or smoother skater on the blue line. He rarely makes errors. He should have at least got a nom. for the norris last year. He makes other people around him better, like McCabe.
the most overrated d-man is McCabe. so he can shoot the puck. big deal. He would be nothing without Kaberle. He is defensivley brutal and whines about everything. 5.5 mil????....gimme a break
This is coming from a devoted leaf fan.

I think and agree the most underrated defense-man is Keith Ballard... The most overrated defense-man is Rob Blake.
Ballard will blossom in time.
Blake is in the twilight of his career.
Lidstrom makes me cringe but he is phenomenal!
