Wow, There's a lot of people who answer questions on YAnswers who really don't know the first thing about computer or errors. Ignore 95% of the above answers, and do the following steps to figure out the REAL source of your problems.

First things first - you have to find out what the blue screen says. Right click "my computer" click "Properties" then "Advanced", the under "Startup and Recovery" click "Settings". Uncheck the box that says, "Automatically Restart". Also, make sure that under " write debugging information", be sure that the option for "small memory dump" is selected. Click Ok or Apply until you are out of the screen.

Now, next time you get an error, you need to do the following: First - the Blue Screen will stay there so you can write down the important information which are - the second line, which tells you the name of your error, and then the second to last line which has a bunch of numbers. Second: Write both of those down, then ask another question, or modify this question with this information.

It is possible, however unlikley that an error like this is created by a virus. It is more likely to be caused by: Failing Hardware, an error in your software (most likely cause in this situation, due to your description of the problem), or an error in your operating system. Don't format or mess around until you actually know what the error is. It could be as simple as re-installing a piece of software, or as complicated as replacing video cards or motherboards. There are literally thousands of reasons your computer could fail, and doing any of the above fixes specifically for this problem would be grasping at straws and wandering blindly in the dark.

(That being said, be sure you have an anti-virus program running in any case, as it is important for all aspects of computing)

**UPDATE**

Stop 0x050 errors are fairly difficult to diagnose - however, based on your description, here's some places to start. Firstly, here's what Microsoft has to say about this error:

"Stop 0x00000050 or PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
This Stop message, also known as Stop 0x50, occurs when requested data is not found in memory. The system generates a fault, which indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced. This fault can occur as a result of a variety of error conditions, such as bugs in antivirus software, a corrupted NTFS volume, or faulty hardware (typically related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM)."

So, what to do? Start by re-installing your anti-virus software, or switch to a different kind (there's some free ones out there -AVGFree to name one.) Also, Run a full Scandisk on your computer by right clicking the C: drive in my computer, clicking Properties, Tools, Scandisk. Check "Full" and "Automatically Repair Errors". You'll need to restart your computer for it to scan the disk.

The other fixes are Hardware related, and if you are not familiar with how to work with computers, I would strongly suggest that you have an 'expert' check it out for you.

Other hunches I have, based on your description is a problem with your Java or flash programs - re-install them after running your scan disk. It could also be sound drivers or video drivers, which you could re-install.

Like I said, Stop Errors are difficult to diagnose. Best of luck.

**ANOTHER UPDATE**

Re-reading your error leads me to believe that it is most likely your video driver or hardware. Reload your video driver. If the error continues, try swapping our your video card, or add a new known good one and see if there error goes away.

It sounds like a virus, though you posted this under laptops and notebooks so it's possible it could be overheating-- especially if it is on more graphics intensive sites. Run an anti virus program and clean out your processor's heat synch (this is a very common problem for people who have pets). Good Luck!

It' not necessarily a virus, but some sites contain language that will set off a blue screen (it' called the "Blue Screen of Death") error message and/or restart your machine. Just stay away from those sites or reboot.
Before you reformat, back up personal data files and all your drivers.

Regardless of the sites you enter, this problem affect me too. My computer restarted after 5 or 6 hours connected WITHOUT disconnecting. The other problem is the modem itself. Try to make your RAM bigger.
And if you restarted after entering some people's profile or sites... it maybe virus or malware. Update your windows daily, or you can try antivirus like AVG anivirus (www.grisoft.com)

IF these can't help, i have a solution for myself if this happen to my com : Turn off your com > turn off your stablizer > and then wait 1 day > my com will work after that

P.S : is your computer making weird sound if you want to turn it on again?

MySpace is an excellent resource But it does not boast
having an anti virus program..as suggested if a Trojan or
bad code trys getting in many AV programs stop it by shutting down while others just alert you have been attacked and the attacker dealt with....my kaspersky security works that way

This is the trademark of a spreading virus.

Please use Avast Anti-Virus which you can download and install free of cost from http://www.avast.com

All the very best.
