i am writing a story. a young boy is lost, orphaned and does not have a name he travels all throught out the story. he accomplishes great deeds and saves the world - twice - all in search of his name. at the end he finds it. what shoud his name be? its can be funny like george or something really different. its a fantasy story so really it should fit in with that.

A man without a name is but a ghost,
passing through the world unnoticed.
His deeds, regardless of their greatness,
will be dissipated in the breeze
or attached to the name of another;
for he has no name of his own
to remember him by.

What part of the world does he come from? Billy is good for an American or a Brit. Davie would be good for an Irish character. Or you can throw caution to the wind and go with Herkimer.
Chuck Magnum would be good for tough guy.
It all depends on what you want him to be in the final frame.

John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt :-)

"Boy"

This reminds me of the "Wizard of Earthsea" where the true name has great power. that's why Ged has to keep his name a secret. In your case the boy doesn't know his name, he has to attain it through feats of courage. So in a way his name gives him power because it is the pursuit of his name that brings him power. So it really doesn't matter what his name is, it could be anything trivial. Maybe something silly would make your point, something like "Percy." :-)_
