I'm just wondering, because of the following paragraph:

"The page program, which brings young people from around the country to work on Capitol Hill, came under intense scrutiny in 1983, after two lawmakers -- Rep. Gerry Studds, a Massachusetts Democrat, and Rep. Dan Crane, an Illinois Republican -- were censured following their admission they had consensual sexual relationships with 17-year-old pages."

(It came near the end of this article on cnn.com: http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/30/foley.quits/index.html )

I just thought people under the age of 18 couldn't have consensual sex.

PLEASE READ THE QUESTION! I AM NOT A 17YO WANTING TO HAVE SEX! And the other parties in these cases were most definitely much older.

Also, please list your sources... thanks ;)

If you look at the site below it shows a map of the world and the ages of consensual sex that is allowed. In the United States the age is between 16 and 18 which you are an adult at 18 but in a lot of the states 16 is legal age of consent. So it really depends on where you live. Texas is 17 and Oklahoma is 16 not to far apart but everything has a different law. Surprisingly California and Florida is 18. I was really surprised at that one. Just because California and Florida seems to be so popular. So anyways check out this site because it shows the rest of the world to. In some parts kids as young as 9 can consent to sex. That is very sad.

Any answer that gives a blanket answer is incorrect as it can depend on the state in which you live.
I know in Missouri 17 is of legal age to consent, but further than that it depends on what age both individuals are. Such as 16 and 18 is okay but not 15 and 23.
You'll need to search you states individual statutes for consent age. Most states websites are something like www.mo.gov.
Hope that helps.

This is a State to State statute. Age of consent ranges from 14 to 18. Although most states are trying to level this age, Many still haven't passed the legislation yet.

It depends on the state. In Mississippi the age of consent is 16 unless the person is not a virgin then it is 12. So if you take a 12 year old's virginity you are breaking the law but if everyone else who screws them is perfectly legal.
