My friends and I want to check out this haunted house called Erebus in Pontiac. We were supposed to going this weekend but one of them called me and said that she's scared to go because she read on a website that they "grab you, bite you, and throw things on top of you".

So I'm sitting here thinking if that's illegal. I don't think that they can bite you. Because if something bites me, I'm suing. I really want to go. It looks fun. I just want to know if anybody has been to it yet. Give me some details but not all. I like to be suprised, but if they have live animals (snakes, spiders, etc.), that's something that I like to know up front. Ain't know way I'm stepping in there with snakes and spiders.

Wow, sounds like AnimalLover sure got a press release from, or, works for the Erebus Haunted Attraction. I'm not really a big haunted house fan but I did actually visit Erebus last year with some friends. I certainly don't remember any "biting" but I do remember the monsters, etc. briefly grabbing people or throwing things on them. Don't worry about going there, nothing is going to hurt you (if there was/is biting, I have to imagine it was pretend/simulated, etc. and the stuff being thrown on people doesn't hurt people or damage clothing); no way a tourist attraction wants either a lawsuit or a reputation of being dangerous. Erebus was better than a lot of haunted houses from what I remember- as I said though, I'm not a big fan and this was the first one I had been to in @ 8 years. I don't remember any live animals, they do have some interesting "rooms" to pass through, and I actually found some of the "illusions" kind of fun (like an illusion you're walking sideways or something like that). Suggestion if you are the easily-scared type, (first remeber that everything is just pretend and nothing there can actually hurt you) is to stay in the middle of your group; people in the front or rear of the group are often snatched- especially females if they appear frightened.

Ed Terebus has likened a trip though EREBUS to an obstacle course in many ways. "Things will grab them, bite them, and land on top of them, then we'll bury them alive!" But no matter how intense an effect is, safety remains the prime concern. Each scene goes through constant tweaking, and almost all of them are activated or supervised by employees to ensure no injuries occur.
