I just installed the new doorknob tonight, the bolt fits into the striker socket on the door frame, but everytime I close the door it just pops open again. What am I doing wrong, it seems like the door is messed up but I don't know.

My bet would be with Floydb. But also check your margine between door and jamb. If the margine is to large the bolt may catch the strike but not hold. In a perfect world you should have an eight of an inch margine. If it`s too wide. you may have to shim the hinges, which may creat an opportunity to collect another 2 pts later.

It sounds like you put the bolt in backwards.

The slanted part on the bolt should be towards the door jamb.

Take it back apart & put the bolt in the other way.

confusing, you might have the screws too tight, binding the bolt when you shut the door

Latch is backwards. Look at another door.
